Cue making began, as a hobby for Terry Romine Sr. He began making cues in the back room of Romine’s High Pockets North. Terry, an avid pool player and a perfectionist by nature wanted a precision hitting cue with a lot focus on details. His dream was to create the perfect cue. Wanting the best, he then approached Bob Runde to start their own company.
1981
In 1981 they formed Schön Cues. Schön is the German word for Beautiful, and they worked tirelessly to create just that. Terry brought their cues to all the tournaments and gained valuable feedback from the world’s greatest players. He brought cues to conventions and took meticulous notes of both criticism and praise from other leading cue makers.
1985
By 1985 the word was out and Schön Cues needed a bigger space. Terry bought the building on 38th and Burnham to expand their business and bring on more master craftsman.
1992
By 1992 everybody in the sport new Schön Cues stood for something special. Something beautiful. By that time, Bob was ready to retire. Evan Clarke, another master craftsman was then hired to help keep up with demand. The business continued to grow.
1998
In 1998 John Fuhrman joined the Romine family and began working in the family business. With a great sense of business and a passion for pool, John was quick to become trusted and valued by Terry and the entire Schön Cues team.
2013
By the time Terry passed away in 2013 Schön Cues had 5 master craftsman working full time to keep up with demand!
2015
In 2015 when Evan retired John took over the reins to keep Terry Romine Sr.’s vision alive, and with the support of the Romine family they continue to produce a perfect cue that Terry Sr. would be proud of.
